Vegaøyan can easily be experienced by kayak, with shallow waters, islands, islets, and abundant birdlife up close. When you are on the water, it is important to show consideration – especially during nesting and molting season, when seabirds are particularly vulnerable.

The waters around Vega, with countless islands and islets, make the area a paddling paradise. Here you can explore shallow waters and white sandy beaches in peace and quiet. Trollfjell Geopark and the Outdoor Recreation Council have created two suggestions for adventurous and safe kayaking routes on the northwest side of Vega. Remember that birdlife is particularly vulnerable during nesting season and that nature reserves have their own rules for access and use. There are several places where you can rent both kayaks and SUPs on Vega.
