Support the eider duck tenders in Vegaøyan
The book "The Place of Tides" describes what a eider duck tender's days are like throughout an entire season of close contact with and care for the eider ducks.

Author James Rebanks has lived with eider tenders in Vegaøyan for several periods. In his book "The Place of Tides", he encourages readers to support the tradition of tending eider ducks by donating money. Contributions are managed by the Vegaøyan World Heritage Foundation, whose main purpose is to promote the World Heritage values.
The most important item on the Foundation's budget is the eider duck tradition, where bird tenders receive a small grant to live on the islands throughout the breeding season to protect the eider ducks from all disturbances. Before the season, they build nests and repair the characteristic eider houses that provide the birds with protection from weather, wind, and predators.

This is what James Rebanks writes:
"Following my work with this book, I have been welcomed to a number of other eider duck islands, where I have seen the fantastic work being done in these places by dozens of wonderful women and men. I hope that some readers will support the tradition of tending eider ducks described in this book by considering a contribution to fund restoration work and the training of future bird tenders".
